What happened to Rec Room?+
It shut down on 1 June 2026. Running costs consistently outpaced revenue as the VR market shifted, and parts of the technology were sold to Snap.
Can I recover rooms I built?+
Only from copies that left the platform before it closed. If you have an export or a local build, bring it. We cannot retrieve anything from the original servers — nobody can.
Are you affiliated with Rec Room?+
No. We are independent, and unconnected to Rec Room Inc. or to Snap. Rec Room is a trademark of its owner and we make no claim to it.
Is this VR only?+
No. Headset support matters, but the original's reach came from phones and desktops, and that is where a new social platform has to work first.
Why would this survive when the original did not?+
A smaller platform with paying creators and no billion-dollar burn rate is a different business. We would rather be sustainable at a fraction of the scale than repeat the ending.
